President’s Message for NovemberBoth elections, our and the nation's, are over! Yeah! I am happy with the results of both.
My duties and responsibilities are not as daunting as those of president-elect Obama but I take them just as seriously. What happens to SGM in the next year is very important to me.
Don't forget we are coming up on our 30th anniversary so that gives us a lot to think about. It seems to me that we are due for a big celebration and I invite all of you to participate in planning that event. So, if you have any ideas or suggestions for the event please let the board know.
If anyone would like to be on the planning committee for the 30th anniversary celebration let us know.
I'd like to thank everyone that participated in the discussion on the 10th about the passing of Proposition 8 in California. There were some very good points made and I think that was the impetus for a few of us to join the protest in Market Square on Saturday, the 15th.
There were about a hundred people there and it was a very peaceful and positive gathering. No hecklers and a lot of support from traffic going by honking in support. It was a very wet day but it felt good knowing that we were part of a national protest and that there were people all over the country doing what we were doing at exactly the same time.
"Marriage" is a civil right and every one of us should be able to take advantage of it if we want to. If not, we are not full citizens of this country and that's just not right!
So, we have not lost, the battle has just begun. PROP 8 = H8
Until next month, be well, be happy and be good to yourselves (and me) J!
Joe
