Cruise Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the cruise departing from? The Isles of Shoals Steamship Company has docks on Market Street in Portsmouth. Look for the salt piles near the river. Look for the Sheraton Hotel across the street. The ISSC has a sign near the docks.

Can I buy a ticket for my best friend? She's a hoot. Sorry, no. This is an all-male event. Our slogan really is "300 Men, 1 Boat."

What's the policy on alcohol? Do NOT bring your own aboard...at best it will be confiscated and at worst, the cruise will be cancelled on the spot. You want to explain THAT to 299 fellow travelers? I don't think that you do. Besides, there are 2 fully stocked cash bars on board.

Where do I park my car? How much? Parking is at least $4 at the dock itself, but keep in mind that it is Sunday; all meters are free. (Come early!)

What time should I arrive? Please arrive by 5:45pm. If you arrive after 6:15pm, we cannot be responsible for your missing the boat.

What will the weather be? Expect the dock to be hot and the open sea to be chilly. A sweatshirt or sweater will make you much more comfortable.

What if it's stormy, or the waves are high? The captain will decide whether a voyage to the Isles is a good idea or not. If not, we'll be having a river cruise up the Piscataqua and back instead. Most years, we do actually go to the islands.

Should I bring anything? Feel free to bring a cold finger food to share on our buffet table. This is optional, but we sure appreciate those who contribute. Feel free to bring a camera, and definitely have a few bucks in your pocket for our raffle boys.

What if I have additional questions? Contact us! Tom is our cruise chair for 2008. You can reach at 207-602-8109. He and the rest of his committee are happy to help.
