It’s good to be back in print!
I apologize for having missed the accelerated deadline for last month’s newsletter. I still wrote an article, and those of you who regularly visit the Web site have probably seen it. For the rest of you, I invite you to check it out. Just go to http://sgminc.org/ and click on the From the President button . . . or you can read it directly at http://sgminc.org/Pres0602.htm.
Speaking of last month’s newsletter, you may have noticed that the paper version was a bit delayed, despite having a deadline a week early. With the recent postal increase, we had to wait for the Post Office to replenish its supply of 2¢ stamps. There were no doubt other reasons for the delay, and on behalf of everyone involved, I do apologize. This month’s issue should be in your hands in a much more timely fashion.
This month’s board meeting was very positive. What a privilege it is to work with such a fine group of men. Paul Goodridge has been appointed assistant secretary to take some of the workload off of Roy’s shoulders. (Thanks, Paul, for taking such good minutes the past two meetings!) And Jeremy has volunteered to head up SGM’s presence at Portland Pride.
As for Boston Pride, we still need a coordinator, but at least Frank DeSarro has volunteered to work with someone, if someone steps forward. So, if you are at all inclined to help out, please let a board member know as soon as possible. If no one steps forward, we simply won’t have an official presence at Boston Pride, but I’m sure there will still be an SGM contingent in attendance.
My travel commitments continue apace, so you won’t see my smiling face at every SGM meeting. But know that I’ll be there whenever I can—and that I’ll be thinking of all of you even when I can’t, as I wrote in last month’s President’s Message.
The April board meeting will be held on our regular second Monday, April 10, starting at 6:15 p.m., and all are invited to attend. Come see your board in action.
Until next month, be out, be proud, and step forward!
Carl
